When was the last time you got a website enquiry?
By Andrew Fenwick 1 July 2026 News
A website is not an ornament. It is not there just to look professional or fill a space on a business card. A good website should help people understand what you do, trust what they see and take the next step.
So here is the question: when was the last time your website generated a quality enquiry?
If the answer is “not recently”, the problem might not be obvious from the outside. The site may still look fine. It may still load. It may still have your services and contact details. But that does not mean it is working.
At One Design Group, we believe websites should be built to be found, designed to be chosen and marketed to win.
Why websites stop performing
There are several reasons a website can stop generating enquiries.
Traffic may have dropped because competitors have become more visible in Google. Search behaviour may have changed. The site may not have enough useful content. The calls to action may be weak. The user journey may be confusing. The mobile experience may be poor. Or the site may be attracting the wrong type of visitor.
A CTA, or call to action, is the part of the page that tells people what to do next. It might be “Book a call”, “Request a quote” or “Start a project”. If the CTA is hidden, unclear or unconvincing, visitors may leave even if they are interested.
What does a website audit look at?
Our basic website audit is designed to give business owners useful insight without overcomplicating things. Our lead technical developer spends time reviewing the key areas that affect performance.
We look at visibility, structure, page speed, mobile experience, user experience, calls to action, content, search performance, technical issues and conversion opportunities. User experience, often called UX, means how easy the site is to use. Conversion rate optimisation, or CRO, means improving the website so more visitors become enquiries, leads or sales.
What happens after the audit?
The audit gives you a clearer picture of what may be holding the site back. Sometimes the answer is simple: clearer calls to action, stronger headlines, better service pages or fixing technical issues. Sometimes the next step is to look deeper into the data, understand search demand, review competitors and build a wider campaign.
One Design Group can then deliver the practical web design, development, SEO or campaign work needed to improve performance.
Why this matters
Your website is often the first serious interaction a potential customer has with your business. If it is hard to find, unclear when people arrive or weak at turning interest into action, opportunities are being missed.
A good website should not just exist. It should work.
If your website is not generating enquiries, ask us for a free website audit. We will review the key areas and give you clear, practical recommendations on what to improve next.
